Mereway Lower School

Mereway Upper school was built in the the 50's. More information to follow


Mereway Lower in 1969. In the background you can see the a large uneven field. When Mereway upper was built this area was leveled after 3 years for a sports field and the sports lessons were taken up by walking across the field stone picking. Whilst doing this I found a medal for 1917 for the 88 pounders with the French General Joffe on the front. How it came to be here is a mystery. Perhaps it was dropped by someone in the isolation hospital that occupied the site years before.
