Matthews Yard is a farriers and iron workers situated on the Cotton End side of South Bridge opposite South Bridge Road.

John was the son of the founder of South Bridge John was also my husband (Frederick Charles Matthews) Father
We think that this photo was taken in the yard of the Pomfret arms about 1906. The Pomfret arms was the boyhood home of the founder of S.W. Wreford (Sylvanus Wreford - known as Ben)
